Bueños!!!!!
To anybody that is interested in my adventures I will try to keep you updated here!!!
I had a rough beginning of my trip on August 8th. I arrived at the airport at 4 in the morning to find out there is no ticket in my name. Thank goodness for my wonderful mother buying me my tickets to at least get on the flights. Now that I wasn't on first class I had to pay for all the extra baggage. I guess the airport gods had to get me one of these days. I have usually been very patient with everything but this was too much. But my flights were fine and I slept most of the way. I also had a wonderful visit with my friend Barry (We have been friends officially for 5 years now ever since I turned 18 years old. haha). It was good to see a face of a friend before my official send off to the world of Guatemala.
The trip ended wonderfully because the second I walked outside after customs I was greeted by the ASG staff and being unloaded of all my belongings to buses and finally meeting my boss face to face. I also met about 7 other new teachers that were on the same flight. We were whisked away to Paseo Cayala. Which is mini France, Italy or Greek island remake. My loft apartment is bigger than my house, the industrial set up makes it feel a little cold. But I am slowly making it a home. I live with at least 10 other new teachers that live next door to me. I don't have a balcony like my other teachers, but my apartment is extra long. I have big doors that open up to the main drag of the Cayala complex and I have a view of the mini Parthenon and the sunset at nights. I think I am in heaven.
And don't even get me started on the school. There are a total of 42 new teachers and we are all learning about this great school. I am technically in the Early Childhood and get to work with three people in my classroom. Myself, a bilingual teacher and a Spanish teacher. I am assigned to teach reading, writing and math. I am excited for my classroom to finally be cleaned up and get the ball rolling. The picture above is of my schools playground and I am excited. All the teachers are amazing and I finally believe I am in the right place at the right time.
I am going to go get some food because Ramadaan is over for the day...
I start school on Thursday. Wish me luck!!!
